What will happen to my alarm system if my phone line is cut?
If your alarm system communicates solely through the phone line, your alarm will ring but will not communicate the event to the monitoring center. If you have a cellular device alarm system, cutting the phone line will not impact the device’s ability to communicate with the monitoring center.
Can you have pets with an alarm system?

How often does my alarm’s back up battery need to be replaced?
Our alarm devices will notify you when your back up battery needs to be replaced. These batteries usually last between two and four years.
Can I keep my old alarm system, and pay Priority One Security to monitor it?

Do you use local or out of area monitoring stations?
Priority One Security uses ‘out of area’ monitoring stations for three main reasons:
- Our monitoring stations have back-up systems in place, so if local telephone communications fail, you are not without monitoring.
- Our stations specialize in monitoring, and employ a team of trained, licensed professionals.
- Our stations are deemed less of a risk when they are located out of town. They also tend to be safer when natural disasters and weather issues arise.

What is the difference between a smoke or carbon monoxide detector bought at a hardware store and one that comes with a security system?
The main difference between a fire safety detector bought at a hardware store (or installed by a builder) and a detector provided by Priority One Security is its monitoring capabilities. Fire safety detectors bought and installed, while excellent for saving lives, only alert you to the fire; they are not able to call the fire department, which is especially important if no one is home to hear the alarm go off. A fire safety detector not connected to a monitoring system only work if the detector’s batteries are charged, and someone is at home to hear the alarm.
By contrast, a monitored fire safety detector connects through your security system so that when an alarm goes off, the fire department is immediately notified. Monitored detectors do not rely on battery power, and can even alert the monitoring station when the system is in disarm mode.
Are all new employees subject to background checks?

Our systems can be monitored through our Total Connect app, which is accessible on your smart phone or tablet, or through any web browser.
Will wires be run throughout my house to install a security system?
